11 Memorable Things to Do With Your Mom
1. Take her on a road trip
A mother-daughter trip can be a great time to bond, and it doesn’t have to be expensive! While heading to the coast for a relaxing weekend on the beach is a great way to spend the weekend, you can also take a day trip if you’re short on time. Plan a trip at least once this year that is just the two of you, and enjoy a trip full of bonding and memories.
It doesn’t have to be a long road trip; you can go anywhere you want because it’s all about making memories while you are together. If mom has a favorite place to visit, that could be an option, or you can just make a day out of it to visit different attractions.
2. Take a creative class together
If the two of you have something in common, why not find a class you can take together? If you’re feeling really adventurous, you could even take a class for something that you want to try together. This is a great way to try new things together, without the pressure of figuring out what each of you likes.
If you and mom love to cook, try taking a new cooking class together, or do something that will force you into your creative zone. If you have a love for art, a painting class may be a great fit where you both can have a lot of fun.
3. Make a scrapbook from old photos
It’s always fun to reminisce while looking at old pictures, and mom will love sharing her stories as you go through all of the old pictures of friends and family.
You can choose a few days to get together with mom and take those old photos and create a family scrapbook that can be passed down through the generations. You can also surprise mom by putting the scrapbook together on your own.

5. Cook mom a special meal
If mom has a favorite meal, you can invite her over for a nice dinner featuring her favorite dish. She will love all of the hard work you put into it and enjoy having dinner with her child.
Go one step further and make a pack that you will always cook a holiday meal together. Holiday dinner is a hassle on whoever has to prepare, but you can start a fun tradition by getting things done together!
Having two cooks in the kitchen can help you make sure each dish is spectacular, and you can even swap a few recipes in the process! If you aren’t much of a cook, even using a packet gravy to finish off the turkey can still be a great bonding experience.
6. Schedule a photoshoot
If possible, you can get all of the kids together to take a family photo with mom. You can also do just a one on one photoshoot to get pictures of the two of you together. Mom will love having these pictures to look back on and remember the good time everyone had.
7. Paint or make something for mom
No matter what ages the kids are, mom is always happy to receive artwork and homemade gifts! I know I have a tub full of the precious artwork my kids have made me over the years.
8. Take mom to a show
Whether mom is a fan of the movies, dinner shows, or musicals, taking her to the show can be fun and memorable things to do with your mom. She may have a show that she’s always wanted to see, and this would be the perfect opportunity for her to view it.
9. Have a tea party with mom
Get friends and family together to have tea with mom. You can add some tasty treats to go along with tea, and mom will enjoy having teatime with those closest to her.
You can even gift her a special tea set that you can for years to come.
10. Take mom to brunch
Sunday brunch is usually what you think of when you’re getting together with your girlfriends, buy why not mom? Going out to a lovely Sunday brunch with your mom can be a fun weekly or monthly tradition that you do together.
Enjoy a few mimosas (or orange juice) while you catch up on each other’s lives. If you live further apart, consider doing a virtual brunch instead! Or, if you’re on a tight budget, take turns making brunch for each other and cook at home.
11. Celebrate the big and little things
When was the last time you got together to celebrate a promotion, or just the fact that you made it through a stressful week? Getting together and celebrating both the big and little things can be a fun new tradition that you start together!
This will make those wins, no matter how small, so much more satisfying, and you can share that joy with someone you love deeply. You don’t have to exchange a gift or even go out to eat, but just the act of sharing that experience can be a lifelong memory.
Making lasting memories with mom
These are just a few memorable things to do with your mom this year. Showing mom how much you care can be as easy as participating in something she loves to do or even being with her when she tries something new for the first time.
